When studying History, it is apparent that you will have extremely less contact hours then other subjects. This normally means regular treks to the library, reading and essays. Volunteering, therefore, not only gives you a bit of a break, but helps to give you an idea of how you could use your degree for a job! Also, looks great on your CV.
If you are interested in any of the opportunities below, please contact the Society via email!
Hidden Tours Aberdeen
Founded in 2011 as a sole trading operation, Fiona's company Hidden Aberdeen help unearth Aberdeens local history, which otherwise would have stayed hidden. Therefore, they are a lovely way to get to know the city, whether you are a tourist or a local!
In terms of volunteering, students would help Fiona to ensure the groups safety etc.
Aberdeen Maritime Museum
The Maritime Museum is one of the City's award-winning Museums, which tells the story of the North Sea. Via both exhibitions, displays and interactive experiences, the museum tells the story of the North Boats, Offshore Oil industry, ship building and clipper ships!
Volunteers would join an already busy volunteer scheme, allowing them to work within museum life, as well as the opportunity to work within other Aberdeen Museums.
